The National TB Reference Laboratory is physically located in the countryâs capital city, Mbabane, in a close vicinity to other public health institutions, and is overseen by the Estwatini Health Laboratory Service (EHLS) under the Ministry of Health (MOH). Its main functions are to provide routine laboratory services which are the diagnosis of TB, supervise other laboratories within the TB laboratory network, supporting research studies, and carrying out validations and verifications of new laboratory techniques before implementation
The National TB Reference Laboratory offers the following test menu: Culture (MGIT 960 liquid culture),Smear microscopy, Drug Susceptibility Testing (DST) (First Line(FL) and Second Line(SL) Drug Susceptibility Testing (DST) (First Line(FL) and Second Line(SL) & Line Probe Assay(LPA) (FL and SL LPA)
